Rainbow Wahine beaten by N. Arizona

Janelle Matthews scored 12 points as Northern Arizona edged Hawai'i, 61-58, yesterday in the Arizona State Women's Tournament at Tempe, Ariz.

Katie Schafer added 11 points for the Lumberjacks (2-6), who scored the game's final five points.

Keisha Kanekoa led the Rainbow Wahine (1-7) with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Her two free throws with 2:25 to play gave UH a 58-56 lead, but the 'Bows went scoreless the rest of the way, going 0 for 3 from the field and suffering three turnovers.

Dita Liepkalne contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds, her third double-double of the season, for Hawai'i. Megan Tinnin added eight points, and Catherine Cho and Allie Patterson each added seven for the Rainbow Wahine.

Hawai'i will play UC Irvine in the consolation game today at approximately 2 p.m. Hawai'i time. Host Arizona State, which is ranked No. 25, will play Northern Arizona in the championship game. The Sun Devils beat UC Irvine, 75-23, in yesterday's other game.
