Victorino at youth baseball camps on Oahu, Kauai

World Series standout Shane Victorino of the Philadelphia Phillies will be the featured guests at youth baseball clinics on O'ahu and Kaua'i.

Joining Victorino will be Kaua'i's Tyler Yates of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Kila Kaaihue of the Kansas City Royals.

The clinics will be held Wednesday at Central O'ahu Regional Park and Saturday and Sunday at Kaua'i's Vidinha Baseball Stadium.

The clinic at West O'ahu, for youth 8 to 18, will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Kaua'i clinic will be 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for youth 8-12 and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for those 13-18 years of age.

Cost is $55 per person for the O'ahu clinic and $70 for the Kaua'i clinic.

Participants will receive a t-shirt, snack and a chance to receive baseball memorabilia.

Wade Yamasaki, athletic trainer for the San Diego Padres, will coordinate the clinic.

The staff will teach fundamental and advanced baseball skills such as:

• proper mechanics on throwing, catching and fielding;

• progressive warm-up drills for throwing;

• breaking down and art of hitting;

• breaking down the science of pitching;

• infield/outfield play;

• age appropriate athletic training;

• footwork and hand-eye coordination drills.

There also will be an autograph session.
