Lawmakers to honor biggest individual donor to Hawaii Foodbank today

Lawmakers today will honor the Hawaii Foodbank's largest individual donor — Hawaii Foodservice Alliance owner Chad Buck.

With a donation today, Buck will have donated more than 200,000 pounds of food to the Hawaii Foodbank this year alone.

Buck will be recognized at the Hawaii Foodbank this afternoon, after making a donation of food.

State Rep. John Mizuno, whose district includes Kalihi Valley and Fort Shafter, said he hopes Buck inspires others to give during these tough economic times.

"We continue to hear the devastating effects of the economic slowdown," Mizuno said, in a news release. "However, today we recognize a hero for his humanitarian assistance to Hawai'i's needy. This is a success story."

The certificate ceremony for Buck is set for 1 p.m. at the Hawaii Foodbank, located at 2611 Kilihau St. in Mapunapuna.
