Pipeline Masters on; Slater, Irons expected to surf

The Billabong Pipeline Masters surfing contest is on again today at the Banzai Pipeline.

The second and third rounds are scheduled to be completed today. Wave-face heights are in the 5- to 10-foot range.

The competition was scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and finish around 4 p.m.

World champion Kelly Slater is expected to surf at around noon. Kaua'i's Andy Irons is scheduled to surf in the last heat of the day, around 3:30 p.m.

Other surfers scheduled to compete today include Dusty Payne, Bruce Irons, Jamie O'Brien, Pancho Sullivan and Fred Patacchia Jr.
