The Contemporary Museum raising rates

The Contemporary Museum is raising their daily entrance fees on Jan. 1.

The new fees will be $8 general and $6 for students and seniors. Children 12 and under continue to be free, and an ongoing 20 year anniversary promotion gives free admission to anyone under 29 through Sept. 30. General admission will remain at $5 for the rest of the month.

Free entry on third Thursdays of the month and free military appreciation Sundays from Dec. 18 to Feb. 22 will also continue.

"Our operating and energy costs have increased significantly in the past years, while income from our endowment has evaporated. Fees collected from our one-day membership passes will help offset those increases and losses so that we can remain viable through the duration of this economic downturn," said Executive Director Georgianna Lagoria in a press release.
