Keolu Hills home destroyed by fire

Advertiser Staff

A morning fire today gutted a Keolu Hills home in Windward O'ahu.

Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Earle Kealoha said damage to the single-story, three-bedroom home at 1266 Loho St, was estimated at $185,000 to structure and $15,000 to contents.

The fire was reported at 7:45 a.m. and declared under control at 8:10 a.m. No one was at home at the time.

Investigators said the fire started in a back bedroom and traced the origin to a zipcord extension connected to a fan, Kealoha said.

The Fire Department advises residents not to use extension cords as permanent wiring, Kealoha said.
