A vehicle crashed into a utility pole near the Hau'ula Kai Shopping Center, knocking out power and forcing police to close Kamehameha Highway in both directions.

The wreck occurred at 5 p.m. near the shopping center, at 54-316 Kamehameha Highway. No other details were immediately available on the wreck or about many homes were without power.

The road will remain closed while officials assess the situation, police said.

Emergency Medical Services officials said no patients were transported from the accident.
