Ala Moana Boulevard lane closures next week

Single lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions between Kalakaua Avenue and Holomoana Street are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily next week, Monday through Saturday, for median landscaping work, street light and sign installations, and pavement striping, the state Department of Transportation announced.

The project will include pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, the addition of a fourth eastbound lane from Hobron Lane to Kalia Road, the lengthening of left-turn stacking lanes onto Hobron Lane and Kalia Road, center median landscaping enhancements designed in consultation with the Outdoor Circle, replacement of highway lighting with decorative lighting similar to that on Kalakaua Avenue, and reconstruction of portions of pedestrian sidewalks and driveways.

These road improvements will be paid for by the Hilton Hotels Corp. as part of a larger development surrounding the construction of the Grand Waikikian Tower, adjacent to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa, the DOT said.
