  • 2008 Mercedes-Benz Championship, $300,000 proceeds to Boy Scouts of America — Maui County Council, Friends of the Children's Justice Center, Hale Makua, J. Walter Cameron Center, Ka Lima O Maui, Lahainaluna High School Foundation and Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation.

  • Hawaii Western Management Group, $20,000 to Hawaii Foodbank, collected through donations and fundraisers.

  • Office of Hawaiian Affairs, $24,999 to the American Lung Association of Hawaii for an asthma management program for parents and guardians of Native Hawaiian children.

  • Tilker Medical Research Foundation, $25,000 to Dr. Richard Allsopp to further his stem cell research with mice at John A. Burns School of Medicine.

  • Office of Hawaiian Affairs, $25,000 to Hawai'i Construction Career Days, an event held annually at Honolulu Community College.

  • First Hawaiian Bank REHAB Golf Challenge, $258,825 toward scholarships for hospital personnel to further their studies and for patient financial aid.

  • The Carl and Hildgund Bucky Foundation, $5,000 to Alzheimers Association, $2,500 to Habilitat and $2,500 to Make-A-Wish Foundation.

  • U.S. Department of Labor, Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program and Veterans' Workforce Investment Program, $278,000 to Network Enterprises Inc.; $200,000 to United States Veterans Initiative.

  • Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., Atlas Insurance Agents, Insurance Factors, Jerry Hay Inc. and Servco Insurance Services, $35,840 to the Honolulu Fire Department toward purchase of a new rescue boat with trailer, two outboard engines, navigational electronics and gear.

  • Among the local businesses donating more than $280,000 this year to Nature Conservancy of Hawaii's Corporate Council for the Environment are: Alexander & Baldwin, Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., Maui Land & Pineapple, Monsanto Fund, Outrigger Enterprises, The Shidler Family Foundation, Skyline Eco-Adventures, ABC Stores, AES Hawai'i, Atlantis Submarines, Bank of Hawai'i, Blue Planet Software, Dowling Co., First Hawaiian Bank, Hula Grill, First Insurance Co. of Hawai'i, Goodfellow Brothers, Haleakala Ranch Co., Kuki'o and Macy's West.

  • Office of Hawaiian Affairs, $40,000 to help establish a teacher certification program for five Ni'ihau educators.

  • Starn O'Toole Marcus & Fisher, $100,000 to University of Hawai'i at Manoa, William S. Richardson School of Law to fund scholarships for law students and sponsorship of the moot court program.

  • John H. Connors Insurance and Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., $14,895 to the Maui Fire Department to help purchase a satellite communications system.

  • The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, $10,000 for a Hale Makua landscaping project, with the help of Kahului Rotary Club.

  • The City and County of Honolulu, $5,000 each to: Alliance for Drama Education, Bamboo Ridge Press, Dance Pioneers, Hanayagi Dancing Academy Hawaii Foundation, Na Pualei O Likolehua, Nova Arts Foundation, Oahu Choral Society and Taiko Arts Center, to fund their cultural productions.

  • Office of Hawaiian Affairs, $10,500 to provide two scholarships for Native Hawaiian students enrolled in the Public Administration Program at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.

  • Hawaii Business Equipment and Toshiba America, $5,000 to Catholic Charities Hawai'i in support of its programs.

  • The Korea Foundation, $250,000, the third installment of a $2 million challenge match that will eventually fund the Center for Korean Studies Rotating Chair Endowment.

  • John A. Burns Foundation, $1.7 million for University of Hawai'i John A. Burns School of Medicine scholarships.

  • Foodland Super Market Ltd., $1.5 million to Hawai'i's nonprofit organizations, proceeds from this year's Give Aloha program.

  • Hawaii Medical Service Association, $25,000 to the American Lung Association, $5,000 to the Association of Native Hawaiian Physicians, $25,000 to Hawaii Lions Foundation, $25,000 to Hawaii Parkinson Association, $49,900 to Helping Hands Hawaii, $25,000 to Imua Family Services, $15,000 to Kohala Hospital Charitable Foundation, $5,000 to Moiliili Community Center, $5,500 to Pacific Cancer Foundation, $5,000 to Shriners Hospitals for Children; $25,000 to The Hawaii Foodbank; $75,506 to University of Hawaii at Hilo, College of Pharmacy.
