Bones discovered in Haleiwa, Laie

Police tonight were investigating the discovery of bones at Hale'iwa Beach Park.

The discovery was reported to police at 6:15 p.m. It is unknown if the remains are human.

Earlier today, the top portion of a skull, believed to be human, was discovered at 10:46 a.m. near a stream bed in La'ie. State archaeologists from Department of Land and Natural Resources responded but could not immediately determine the age of the skull fragment.
