Marine base runway closing for repairs

The Marine Corps Air Facility runway at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii will close today for approximately three months for construction upgrades.

Some of the improvements include the replacement of asphalt for concrete, painting of taxiways and ramps, upgrades to the Mokapu Road crossing, and the placement of current runway lights with LED lights to conserve energy.

The Navy P-3 Orion squadrons based at MCB Hawaii will operate out of Hickam Air Force Base during the construction while the helicopter squadrons will continue to operate out of MCB Hawaii.

During construction, the airfield hours will now be:

— Monday - 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

— Tuesday through Thursday - 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

— Friday - 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

— Saturday and Sunday - Closed
