Weather: Clouds and a few showers expected today

Southeast winds, which will be variable at times, are expected to persist through the week, the National Weather Service said.

This is due to a high pressure ridge to the northeast and a trough to the west, forecasters said.

Skies will be cloudy to partly cloudy today with the best chance of rain on Kaua'i and the windward side of the Big Island.

Here's what's expected during the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers. Widespread haze. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Widespread haze. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday: Isolated showers. Widespread haze. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. East wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday night: Isolated showers. Widespread haze. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
