DURHAM, N.C. — Karima Christmas scored 10 of her 14 points in the second half and chased down a late rebound that helped eighth-ranked Duke beat No. 3 Stanford, 56-52, last night.

Chante Black added 14 points for the undersized Blue Devils (7-1), who never trailed in the second half and used a fullcourt press to force Stanford into a season-high 23 turnovers, turning them into 18 points.

"It was a knockdown, drag-out — that was a heavyweight fight in some ways," Duke coach Joanne P. McCallie said. "We were trying to make it a lightweight fight a little bit (and) get up and down the floor more."

Jayne Appel had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (7-2), which saw its six-game winning streak snapped. Jeanette Pohlen added 13 points, including a 3-pointer with 1:05 remaining that pulled the Cardinal within 54-52.

Black hit the front end of a 1-and-1 with 18.6 seconds but missed her second attempt. Christmas grabbed the rebound and got it to Abby Waner, whose free throw with 13.9 seconds made it a four-point game.

No. 7 Baylor 73, Texas-Pan American 27: Danielle Wilson had 23 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots, extending her school record for blocked shots to 200, and the host Lady Bears (10-1) led 36-12 at halftime in rolling past the Lady Broncs (5-5) at Waco, Texas.

No. 16 Pittsburgh 98, Wagner 41: Shavonte Zellous scored 26 points to lead four teammates in double figures and the Panthers (8-1) scored 36 points off 26 turnovers in cruising past the Seahawks (3-5) at Pittsburgh for their eighth straight victory.

No. 18 Ohio State 68, Delaware State 35: Jantel Lavender had 29 points and 11 rebounds, and the Buckeyes (9-2) held the Lady Hornets (2-6) without a field goal for 9 minutes in taking a 34-16 halftime lead and never looking back at Columbus, Ohio.

NO. 22 OKLAHOMA STATE 58, ORAL ROBERTS 48: Tegan Cunningham scored 16 points and despite a season-low 14 from from Andrea Riley, the host Cowgirls (5-2) held off the Golden Eagles (5-2) at Stillwater, Okla., for their 28th consecutive home victory against a nonconference opponent.

RANKED MEN

No. 5 Texas 88, Texas Southern 72: A.J. Abrams scored 27 points, Dexter Pittman added 19, and the host Longhorns (9-1) opened a 57-47 lead with 13:14 to play and the Tigers (0-9) got no closer than nine points thereafter at Austin, Texas.

No. 16 Tennessee 80, No. 24 Marquette 68: Wayne Chism scored 21 of his 26 points in the second half, and the Volunteers (7-2) held off the injury-riddled Golden Eagles (8-2), who had only eight players at Nashville, Tenn.

No. 25 Clemson 76, North Florida 36: Trevor Booker had 16 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots, and the Tigers finished the first first half with a 20-5 run for a 37-22 lead to improve to 11-0 for the third time in four seasons with a rout of the Ospreys (0-8) at Clemson, S.C.
