Surfing: Billabong Pro Maui women's contest on today

Advertiser Staff

The final day of the Billabong Pro Maui women's contest is on today.

The contest will run at an alternate site of Hookipa Beach because of a

lack of waves at the original site, Honolua Bay.

The quarterfinals are scheduled to start at 9 a.m., with the final around

noon.

Hawaii surfers still in the competition are Megan Abubo, Melanie Bartels

and Carissa Moore.

Australians Layne Beachley and Stephanie Gilmore are also still in the

contest. They are the top contenders for the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing

championship.
