LIHU'E
Filmmaker will answer questions after screening

"Noho Hewa: The Wrongful Occupation of Hawai'i," will be shown at 6 p.m. tomorrow (Dec. 20) at the Kaua'i Community College Performing Arts Center.

The documentary film by journalist Anne Keala Kelly was the winner of the Hawai'i International Film Festival's 2008 award for best documentary.

The film will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Kelly.

The film takes a "contemporary look at Hawaiian people, politics and resistance in the face of their systematic erasure under U.S. laws, economy, militarism, and real estate speculation," says a release about the film.

Suggested donations of $10 or more will go toward covering expenses associated with the film and the cost of the screening.

The event is co-sponsored by Kaua'i Community College's Hawaiian Studies Department.
