Associated Press

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The World's Strongest Man competition, conducted in Charleston in September, will make its television debut on Christmas night.

The competition kicks off at 7 p.m. (Eastern) Thursday on ESPN2. It will be shown in 10 consecutive half-hour episodes, followed by a one-hour finale starting at midnight.

The competition will air again starting Sunday afternoon.

Poland's Mariusz Pudzianowski won a record fifth title. Derek Poundstone of Waterbury, Conn., took second place.

Charleston's Phil Pfister finished fourth. He won the event in 2006 and was instrumental in bringing the competition to West Virginia.
