Grants

  • Office of Hawaiian Affairs, $40,000 to help establish a teacher certification program for five Ni'ihau educators.

  • Starn O'Toole Marcus & Fisher, $100,000 to University of Hawai'i at Manoa, William S. Richardson School of Law to fund scholarships for law students and sponsorship of the moot court program.

  • John H. Connors Insurance and Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., $14,895 to the Maui Fire Department to help purchase a satellite communications system.

  • The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, $10,000 for a Hale Makua landscaping project, with the help of Kahului Rotary Club.

  • The City and County of Honolulu, $5,000 each to: Alliance for Drama Education, Bamboo Ridge Press, Dance Pioneers, Hanayagi Dancing Academy Hawaii Foundation, Na Pualei O Likolehua, Nova Arts Foundation, Oahu Choral Society and Taiko Arts Center, to fund their cultural productions.

  • Office of Hawaiian Affairs, $10,500 to provide two scholarships for Native Hawaiian students enrolled in the public administration program at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.

  • Hawaii Business Equipment and Toshiba America, $5,000 to Catholic Charities Hawai'i in support of its programs.

  • The Korea Foundation, $250,000, the third installment of a $2 million challenge match that eventually will fund the Center for Korean Studies Rotating Chair Endowment.
