CFB: Boise State's Ian Johnson sets WAC rushing touchdown record

Associated Press

SAN DIEGO — Boise State's Ian Johnson has broken Marshall Faulk's Western Athletic Conference record for rushing touchdowns, running 20 yards for a score in the first quarter of Tuesday night's Poinsettia Bowl.

Johnson ran untouched for his 58th career touchdown with 7:35 left in the first to give the undefeated, No. 9 Broncos a 10-0 lead in their highly anticipated matchup with No. 11 TCU.

Broncos' quarterback Kellen Moore faked a sweep handoff to Jeremy Childs, then handed to Johnson who found open field. Officials brought to the ball to the sideline for Johnson to keep.

It was Johnson's 13th touchdown run this season. He had four as a freshman, 25 as a sophomore and 12 in his junior year.
