WAIKIKI
Fewer than 100 jellyfish found as influx tails off

The monthly box jellyfish influx dropped off substantially yesterday morning, as fewer than 100 of the stinging creatures were found off Waikiki, city Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said.

On Sunday, more than 1,600 jellyfish were found in Waikiki and lifeguards treated more than 170 people for stings. No stings were reported yesterday morning. At Ala Moana, fewer than five box jellyfish were found yesterday.
