No. 4 Oklahoma burns Rice to remain unbeaten with

HOUSTON — Freshman Willie Warren scored a career-high 31 points and Blake Griffin added 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 4 Oklahoma over Rice, 70-58, last night.

Warren went 4-for-9 from 3-point range and Griffin notched his ninth double-double of the season for the Sooners (12-0), who matched the program's best start since 1989-90.

The Sooners won despite shooting 5-for-20 from 3-point range and 50 percent from the free-throw line (17-of-34), and matching a season-high with 17 turnovers.

Corey Pflieger had 17 points and Lawrence Ghoram added 16 for the Owls (4-7), who have lost their last 17 games against ranked opponents.

The Sooners broke a 46-all tie with a 14-2 run.

No. 6 Wake Forest 95, East Carolina 54: Al-Farouq Aminu had 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Demon Deacons (11-0) past the host Pirates (8-3). Darrius Morrow had 15 points to lead East Carolina.

No. 8 Notre Dame 81, Savannah St. 49: Luke Harangody had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the host Fighting Irish (9-2) against the Tigers (7-5). Tory Jackson and Ryan Ayers added 10 points each for the Irish. Chris Linton led the Tigers with 14 points.

No. 10 Purdue 70, IPFW 55: JaJuan Johnson had career highs of 21 points and nine rebounds and blocked three shots for the host Boilermakers (10-2) against the Mastodons (4-8). Nick Daniels had a career-high 14 points for IPFW.

No. 15 Ohio St. 83, UNC-Asheville 59: Freshman B.J. Mullens, getting the most playing time (25 minutes) of his brief career, scored 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots to lead the host Buckeyes (9-0) past the Bulldogs (4-8). The 7-foot Mullens had never played more than 20 minutes nor scored more than 11 points.

WAC

Louisiana Tech 72, TCU 67: Kyle Gibson scored 23 points to lead the host Bulldogs (6-6) over the Horned Frogs (7-5). Gibson shot 7 for 7 from the field, including 3 for 3 from 3-point range. Jamel Guyton added 15 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Bulldogs. The Horned Frogs were paced by Ronnie Moss, who scored 20.

Boise St. 75, San Diego 72: Mark Sanchez and Anthony Thomas scored 20 points each to lead the Broncos (8-3) over the host Toreros (6-7). Sanchez scored 15 points in the second half. Gyno Pomare scored a game-high 22 points for San Diego.

San Jose St. 82, San Francisco 76: Adrian Oliver scored 15 of his game-high 31 points in the final six minutes, and the host Spartans (5-3) held off the Dons (7-5). Kwame Vaughn scored 22 points to lead USF.

Utah St. 66, Utah 64: Tai Wesley tipped-in a missed basket with less than a second to play to lift the host Aggies (9-1) over the Utes (6-5). Wesley scored 17 of his 18 points in the second half. Luke Nevill led the Utes (6-5) with 25 points.

Creighton 84, Fresno St. 65: Booker Woodfox had 24 points and Kenny Lawson Jr. added 15 to lead the Bluejays (9-2) past the Bulldogs (6-6) at the Las Vegas Classic. George Paul scored 21 points, Sylvester Seay added 17 and Dwight O'Neil 16 for Fresno State.

WOMEN

No. 20 Vanderbilt 67, Liberty 50: Freshman Tia Gibbs had 15 points and four steals as the host Commodores (11-2) defeated the Flames (3-7). Rachel Hammond led the Flames with a career-high 18 points.

No. 21 Oklahoma St. 90, Eastern Kentucky 35: Andrea Riley had 23 points, seven assists, five rebounds and four steals and the host Cowgirls (8-2) routed the Lady Colonels (3-6). Kayla Drake led Eastern Kentucky with 11 points and eight rebounds.

WAC

Utah St. 44, Weber St. 41: Danyelle Snelgro scored 19 points and Ana Pares 17 as the Aggies (6-5) beat the host Wildcats (5-6). Tonya Schnibbe scored 12 points for WSU.

Long Beach St. 74, New Mexico St. 61: Whitney Field scored a game-high 30 points to lead the host 49ers (3-7) past the Aggies (4-7). Madison Spence scored 19 for the Aggies.

Louisiana Tech 77, Arkansas Little Rock 61: Shanavia Dowdell had 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead the host Bulldogs (6-5) over the Trojans (9-3). Anshel Cooper had 24 points for UALR.

Boise St. 68, St. Mary's 60: Brittany Moore had 21 points as the host Broncos (7-6) beat the Gaels (3-10). Louella Tomlinson had 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 blocks for St. Mary's.

HAWAI'I DIVISION II

Harding (Ark.) 79, Hawai'i Pacific 77: Ashley Anderson scored the go-ahead layup with 10 seconds left as the Lady Bisons (10-1) edged the Sea Warriors (2-7) at McKinley High.

HPU missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Makala McNair scored 28 points and Anderson added 22. HPU's Mana Hopkins and Paris Gravely scored 19 points apiece, Tiffany Wilson 13 and Maltresa Neely 11.
