KALIHI
HEI contributing $100K to museum restoration

Hawaiian Electric Industries and its subdiaries, Hawaiian Electric Co. and American Savings Bank, are giving $100,000 to Bishop Museum in support of the restoration of the museum's Hawaiian Hall.

The $21 million project is expected to be completed in August 2009. When it reopens, the Hawaiian Hall will feature the world's largest collection of Hawaiian artifacts and also give visitors a chance to learn about the collection through a Hawaiian perspective.

In am announcement yesterday, Bishop Museum President & CEO Tim Johns thanked HEI, HECO and American Savings Bank.

"They are helping to make sure that Bishop Museum continues to have the unique ability to share a wealth of stories of Hawai'i's history and living culture," Johns said.
