Two the state's largest shopping centers reopened today after being forced to shut down yesterday due to an islandwide power outage.

Ala Moana Center and Pearlridge Center said they were operating on normal Saturday hours today.

Last night was a different story. Ala Moana officials said most of their stores were forced to close early on what is traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Pearlridge Center also closed its doors and escorted customers from its premises after losing power, said mall spokeswoman Debra Sharkey.
