Board of Water Supply urging conservation islandwide

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Board of Water supply is urging all customers to conserve water while the pump system re-charges in the wake of last night's power outage.

There are still large pockets of Oahu without power, preventing portions of the water supply's pumping system from operating.

"Our system has to recover," said Su Shin, spokeswoman for the Board of Water supply. "We need the time to re-fill the reservoirs."

The BWS is asking people to use water only for essential activities like drinking and cooking.

The board is asking people not to water plants, wash clothes, or take long showers.

"We really need people to conserve water, island-wide," said Shin.
