Rainbow Classic: Betts hits game-winner for Buffalo

Associated Press

Calvin Betts hit a 14-footer with 0.5 seconds left to lead Buffalo to a 62-60 win over Colorado tonight in a semifinal game of the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic.

The Bulls (7-4) advanced to meet Colorado State in Tuesday's championship final. The Buffaloes (7-4) had a four-game win streak snapped and will play Vermont for third place.

Andy Robinson had 16 points and Betts added 15 for the Bulls. Cory Higgins had 15 points to lead four players in double figures for the Buffaloes.

Colorado tied it at 56 on Nate Tomlinson's layup with 5:15 to play.

Buffalo scored the next four points on putbacks by Betts and Vadim Fedotov. Tomlinson made a pair of free throws to pull the Buffaloes to within a basket at the 1:41 mark.

Colorado's Dwight Thorne II tied it at 60 with his driving layup with 11 seconds left before Betts hit his game-winner.
