Weather: Scattered, isolated showers likely today

A high pressure area to the north of the state will keep light to moderate trade winds flowing into the new year, the National Weather Service said.

Showers will favor windward and mauka sections, although a few will reach the leeward areas as well, forecasters said.

Here's a more detailed look at the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday night: Isolated showers. Cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

New Year's Day: Isolated showers. Cloudy, with a high near 78. East wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Thursday night: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
