Surf: West-northwest swell due later today

Advertiser Staff

A moderate-size west-northwest swell is due to roll in on O'ahu today, resulting in surf of 3 to 5 feet this afternoon on north-facing shores, the National Weather Service said.

The same swell is expected to build to moderate to near high levels on Wednesday, then gradually subside through Saturday, forecasters said.

Elsewhere on O'ahu today, expect surf of 2 to 5 feet along east-facing shores, 3 to 5 feet by this afternoon along west-facing shores and 1 to 3 feet along south-facing shores.

A new, short-period trade wind swell will enhance surf on the east side Friday into Saturday, pushing heights to near the advisory level of 8 feet.
