Moderate-level earthquakes hit near Tonga, Fiji

Two moderate-sized earthquakes jostled the area near two different South Pacific Island nations early this morning.The first earthquake, assigned a preliminary magnitude of 5.3, occurred at 12:26 a.m. near Tonga.
The second temblor, recorded at about 2:10 a.m., was assigned a preliminary magnitude of 5.6.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from either quake and a tsunami advisory was not issued for either of the quakes.
