Rain showers likely to linger through the weekend

Advertiser Staff

It looks like the rain showers will hang around a while and some of them could be heavy, according to the National Weather Service.

A strengthening high-pressure area north of the state will lead to strong and gusty trade winds over the Islands through the weekend, forecasters said.

An upper-level trough will linger over the state, keeping the atmosphere unstable.

Showers will favor windward and mauka areas, but rainfall coverage and intensity will be greater than normal due to the unstable air mass.

The strong winds will blow showers across leeward areas of the smaller islands as well.
