Kamehameha girls win 3rd straight DI state soccer title

WAIPAHU — Sophomore Courtney-Rae Botelho scored in the 48th minute tonight to help Kamehameha defeat Punahou, 1-0, and win its third straight JN Automotive Group/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Girls Soccer State Championship.

Botelho took a pass from Shelby Moriguchi and worked her way into the right side of the penalty box, where she shot it from about 15 yards out into the upper left corner of the net past the keeper.

Division I

THIRD PLACE

Mililani 0, Pearl City 0: O'ahu Interscholastic Association foes Mililani and Pearl City ended the season in a 0-0 tie.

The game did not go into overtime because it was a consolation game.

FIFTH PLACE

Moanalua 2, Konawaena 0: Na Menehune freshman Tiana Fujimoto scored her tournament-leading fifth goal in the 49th minute. Kayley Killion added another goal in the 63rd minute for Moanalua.

CONSOLATION FINAL

Kapolei 2, Kalani 0: The Hurricanes struck early on a fourth-minute goal by Liana Gualdarama, and Kristina Behrens extended the lead in the 49th minute.
