Sure, the really big Year of the Rat festival is the all-day Night in Chinatown block party on Maunakea Street today. But there are other celebrations around town, too, including:

  • Lion dances at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow, throughout the parking lot. Admission to the swap meet is $1 general, free for kids 10 and younger. 486-6704.

  • The Vietnamese New Year festival, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Kapi'olani Park Bandstand. Attractions include bands, ethnic dances, a lion dance, food booths and kids' games. Admission is free. 383-6554.

  • A kung fu demonstration and lion dance at 11 a.m at Kahala Mall's Center Court tomorrow; and a presentation by feng shui expert Alice Inoue at 1 p.m. 732-7736.

    Chinese New Year is Thursday.
