CBKB: Baylor's Player will miss rest of the season

Associated Press

WACO, Texas — Jhasmin Player will miss the rest of the season for No. 6 Baylor after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee on Saturday.

Player, who was averaging 12.2 points, 6 rebounds and 3.5 assists, was injured on a fast-break layup in the first half of Saturday's 63-49 win over No. 18 Kansas State.

In addition to the ACL tear, Player sprained her medial collateral ligament. Baylor said Player would undergo ACL reconstruction surgery later.

"Ever since Jhasmin set foot in our gym, she's been a huge part of our success," Baylor coach Kim Mulkey said. "She got to play 21 games of her junior year and played an important part of the team's success this season. She will continue to contribute the rest of the year, just in a different way."
