Iolani grad fronts Iowa-based reggae band touring Isles

Public Property, fronted by Hawai'i-born David Bess, will this month bring its reggae sound to the Islands in a four-week tour on O'ahu, the Big Island and Maui.

Besides club dates, Public Property also will appear at Bob Fest, a reggae event, at Kapolei and in Kailua, Kona.

The seven-piece Iowa-based group features musicians, female singers and the 'ukulele.

Bess, a 1999 graduate of 'Iolani School, met band singer Mareva Minerbi, a '99 Mid-Pacific Institute grad, in Italy. Both finished college in Iowa and started up the reggae band there.

O'ahu playdates are:

  • 9 p.m. Wednesday — Boardriders, Kailua. $5; for those 21 and older
