Flash flood watch continues for Hawaii
Advertiser Staff
A flash flood watch remains in effect for the Hawaiian Islands through this afternoon, the National Weather Service said.A nearly stationary front just west of Hawai'i is keeping the threat of heavy rainfall for all of the islands.
The National Weather Service's latest forecast said heavy showers will primarily focus over windward and mauka areas because of the continuing trade winds, but heavy showers may also cause problems in leeward areas.
Of particular concern is the saturated ground on the windward and southeast sides of the Big Island, making that area vulnerable to flash flooding.
