The parent of Hawaiian Airlines said it had successfully concluded labor talks that will allow it to go ahead with plans to acquire up to 24 Airbus long-range aircraft for $4.4 billion.Hawaiian Holdings said it had signed a definitive purchase agreement under which it will acquire six A330-200 aircraft, six A350WXB-800 aircraft and gain purchase rights for another 12 aircraft. The jets will replace Hawaiian's current wide-body fleet of 18 Boeing 767-200 planes.
The airline had signed a memorandum of understanding with Europe-based Airbus in November, but subsequently said it had an impasse in negotiations with its pilot's union that might prevent the purchase from going forward.
