Hawaii Democrats watching Super Tuesday results

Associated Press

HONOLULU — Hawai'i Democrats are closely watching the results from Super Tuesday.

While neither Hawai'i party has a vote in the big primary showdown, supporters of Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama are looking down the road to when Hawai'i Democratic delegates are determined.

Island Democrats hold their caucuses and presidential vote on Feb. 19.

Obama Hawai'i campaign director Andy Winer says he hopes Super Tuesday will build momentum and result in more interest in the Hawai'i caucuses.

Even Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, who is a leading Clinton supporter, acknowledges that Obama has an advantage in the state where he was born.

Republicans won't be picking their delegates until the state party convention in May.
