Summer food service offered to Hawaii children

The state Department of Education is now accepting applications from schools, public agencies and private nonprofit organizations who want to help fill the hunger gap for Hawai'i children in low-income areas this summer.The program is part of the US Department of Agriculture's Summer Food Service Program. SFSP sponsors receive reimbursements for serving healthy meals and snacks at approved sites to children and teenagers (18 years and younger). Sponsors must also provide educational and recreational activities.
