33 arrested on Big Island last week for drunk driving

Big Island police arrested 33 drivers last week — including Super Bowl weekend — for drunk driving.Thirteen of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes and two were under the age of 21.
Through Monday there have been 130 DUI arrests on the Big Island compared with 117 over the same time span last year, an increase of 11 percent.
Major accidents on the Big Island are down 13 percent compared to last year. So far in 2008 there have been 193 major accidents, including four fatalities. Last year at this time there were 221 major accidents and five fatalities.
