Maryknoll girls roll to 9-0 in D-II

Sam Chung scored 13 points to lead undefeated Maryknoll to a 31-27 Interscholastic League of Honolulu victory over St. Andrews, preventing the Pride from clinching a Division II girls basketball state tournament berth.

St. Francis earns the ILH's third berth in the state tournament. St. Andrew's will play in the ILH tournament for the fourth and final berth.

Maryknoll (9-0) and University High (8-2) have earned state berths. The ILH D-II final is on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Center.

ILH PLAYOFFS BEGIN

The ILH Division I girls tournament for the league's second and final state berth begins tonight. 'Iolani hosts Sacred Hearts and Kamehameha hosts Mid-Pacific.

The winners will play Thursday at the Neal Blaisdell Center for the final berth. Punahou, which won the regular season, has already qualified for the state tournament.

The ILH boys tournament for third place begins Friday. The tournament winner will meet a Big Island Interscholastic Federation team in a play-in game for a state berth on Feb. 16.
