PATTAYA, Thailand — Top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland came from behind in both sets to defeat Vania King of the United States 7-5, 7-6 (5) in the first round of the Pattaya Open today.

"It was a very close match. I was three set points down but I was happy that I won important points," 18-year-old Radwanska, a quarterfinalist in the Australian Open, said after the 2-hour, 25-minute match.

Second-seeded Casey Dellacqua of Australia made a strong debut in Pattaya by breezing past qualifier Akiko Yonemura of Japan 6-2, 6-3.

"The court was super quick. I'm happy that I got a match under my belt," said Dellacqua, who stirred excitement at home last month by beating Patty Schnyder and Amelie Mauresmo in reaching the Australian Open fourth round.

Dellacqua will next play Andreja Klepac of Slovenia, who beat wild card Urszula Radwanska, Agnieszka's younger sister, 7-6 (1), 6-2.

In other first-round matches, No. 4-seeded Chan Yung-jan of Taiwan defeated Zhou Yi-miao of China 6-4, 6-2, and No. 9 Tzipi Obziler of Israel, who became seeded when Sania Mirza withdrew injured, beat local wild card Noppawan Lertcheewakarn 6-1 6-2.

Other first-round winners included India's Sunitha Raa, who took Mirza's place in the draw, Luxembourg's Anne Kremer, and Russian qualifier Vesna Mansieva.
