Cloudy, rainy weather likely to last through Friday

The cloudy and rainy weather will persist through Friday before drier weather settles in over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The breezy trade winds of the past several days should back off a bit today followed by moderate trade winds by the weekend, which will continue into the new work week.

Here's a closer look at what to expect during the next few days:

Today: Scattered showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Thursday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Northeast wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
