Hawaiian Airlines had a great year in 2007 for on-time performance. It also led all U.S. airlines with the fewest cases of mishandled baggage. Aloha Airlines fared well, too, coming in No. 2 for being on time and having the fewest consumer complaints.

For the fourth year in a row, Hawaiian Airlines had the nation's best on-time record.

In its December Air Travel Consumer Report, the U.S. Department of Transportation said 93.3 percent of Hawaiian's flights were on time in 2007. Aloha Airlines had the industry's second best on-time performance as 92.2 percent of its planes were less than 15 minutes late.

Aloha led the airline industry with the fewest consumer complaints last year while Hawaiian was tops for fewest mishandled baggage, making it the third straight year that Hawaiian led all domestic carriers for baggage service.

Aloha had the nation's second-best record in 2007 for baggage service.

Mesa Air Group, which owns interisland carrier go!, had an on-time record of 73.1 percent last year, placing it at 11th out of 20 domestic carriers surveyed by the Transportation Department.

In December, Aloha was the nation's No. 1 on-time airline at 93 percent, followed by Hawaiian, which had a 92 percent on-time record for the month. Aloha also had the fewest complaints during the month while Hawaiian was tops for fewest cases of mishandled baggage.

Aloha was the nation's second best airline when it came to baggage service in December, the DOT said.
