Rare concert footage featuring reggae kingpin Bob Marley will be shown at 7:30 tonight at the Honolulu Academy of Arts' Doris Duke Theatre, as part of a "Bob Marley Birthday Celebration." Marley's birthdate is Feb. 6, 1945. Roger Steffens, an author and official biographer of the Jamaican icon who helped give a face and voice to shantytown residents of the world, will screen rare concert videos of Marley and share personal, firsthand stories of life on the road with the Marley band at the event. Tickets: $12 adults, $10 academy members, on sale in advance at the academy entrance daily or at the door.
