Pualei Furtado hit a running jumper as time expired to lift No. 10 Kamehameha to a 40-38 win over Mid-Pacific in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I Girls Tournament to decide the league's second state tournament berth last night at Kekuhaupi'o Gym.

Kamehameha (7-6) plays 'Iolani (11-2) tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at Blaisdell Arena for a state berth. MPI ended at 3-10.

The Warriors got a steal from Shaleese Javillo with under five seconds to play. Following a timeout, Furtado took the inbounds pass, was trapped near the baseline, but split two defenders and hit the game-winner.

"The play was designed to come to me, but the screen didn't really materialize and I just tried to get a shot off," Furtado said.
