Hanalani girls off to first-ever state tournament

Ruth Matalau and Samantha Hyde each scored eight points as the Hanalani girls basketball team defeated St. Andrew's, 41-37, in tonight's Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II playoff game for a state tournament berth at the Neal Blaisdell Center.

The Royals (9-3) have now clinched their first-ever state tournament berth and the league's fourth and final state berth.

Noelani Kawashima scored 14 points and Teisa Laboy 10 for St. Andrew's (8-5).
