OPERATION POLIHALE — The Division of State Parks and Leadership Kaua'i welcome volunteers to work with the Pi'ina Hoku youth program in Operation Polihale, 8 a.m.-noon tomorrow, March 8 and April 12. Work includes cleanup, plant trimming, fixture repairs, painting, and replacement of vehicle barriers at Polihale State Park. Contact Leadership Kaua'i at 246-8727.

MALAMA ULUPO HEIAU — Join Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi for a service project at Ulupo Heiau in Kailua, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. tomorrow. Bring lunch, water, rain gear, sunscreen, work gloves, tools.

KANE'OHE WETLAND PROJECT — Volunteers are needed tomorrow to help the Sierra Club remove mangrove and other invasive species from wetlands on Marine Corps Base Hawai'i to create habitat for endangered waterbirds. Submit name and contact information in advance to Annette Kaohelaulii at 235-5431.

NU'UANU WEEDING — Clear Medinilla magnifica, a relative of miconia, from Nu'uanu with the O'ahu Invasive Species Committee and Sierra Club, 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. tomorrow. Involves 45-minute hike and off-trail weeding on steep terrain. Meet at Church of the Crossroads parking lot. Bring water, snacks, lunch, raingear, sunscreen, bug repellent and sturdy walking shoes. KAWAI NUI CLEANUP — Windward Ahupua'a Alliance will hold a Quick-n-Dirty Cleanup of Kawai Nui waterway and Hamakua Marsh, 12:302 p.m. Feb. 17, with a pau hana party to follow. Pre-registration not required. Call Jim or Shannon Wood at 223-4481 or 247-6366, ext. 1.

CRATER OVERNIGHTER — The Friends of Haleakala National Park will conduct cabin maintenance, invasive species removal or other work during a Feb. 16-18 service trip to Kapalaoa Cabin. MAKIKI WAI HELPERS — The O'ahu Na Ala Hele Trails and Access program and the Hawai'i Nature Center need volunteers 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 23 to weed, pick up branches, plant, water and fertilize native plants as part of the Makiki WAI (Watershed Awareness Initiative) forest restoration project. Bring long pants, long-sleeved shirt, shoes or boots, gloves, insect repellent, water and lunch. Meet at the Makiki Forestry Baseyard; families welcome. Call Aaron Lowe at 973-9782.

THURSDAY WORKDAYS — Join the Nature Conservancy, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays, at the Honouliuli Preserve in Kunia for volunteer work requiring hiking and moderately strenuous activity removing invasive species, clearing trails, and monitoring and repairing fences. WEED & POT CLUB — Maui Nui Botanical Garden's Weed & Pot Club meets 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at 150 Kanaloa Ave. in Kahului to weed, rake, trim or transplant nursery plants, and do other beautification and maintenance work. Tools, gloves and drinking water provided; bring sunscreen, wear shoes.
