Military personnel get discounts to Pan-Pacific soccer tournament

 •  Japan buzzing about 16-year-old heartthrob

Special discount tickets for the Pan-Pacific Soccer Championships are being offered to military personnel at military ticket offices.

The PPC, an international tournament that features superstar David Beckham and Hawai'i's Brian Ching, will be held Feb. 20 and 23 at Aloha Stadium.

Teams from the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer, Japan (Gamba, Osaka) and Australia will compete.

The tournament opens Feb. 20 with the Galaxy playing Gamba Osaka at 6 p.m., followed by the Dynamo vs. a Hyundai A-League Representative at 8:30 p.m. Matches Feb. 23 also are at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Discounts are up to $10 per ticket.

Youth clubs affiliated with the Hawai'i Youth Soccer Association also will sell tickets as part of fundraising for their clubs.

The clubs will earn a portion of the proceeds for the tickets they sell.

Tickets to the PPC are available at www.ticketmaster.com or through all Ticketmaster retail locations. Tickets can also be purchased at Aloha Stadium (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). For information, call the box office at 808- 486-9300, or Ticketmaster at 877-750-4400.

Each ticket for the Pan-Pacific Championship will allow fans to attend both matches. Advance tickets range from $10 to $50 for the Feb. 20 matches and $15 to $60 for the Feb. 23 doubleheader. Special rates for children 12 and under are available.
