High surf advisory posted for Oahu's north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores on O'ahu.

Surf along north-facing shores is expected to climb to 10 to 15 feet today, while surf of 8 to 12 feet is expected along west-facing shores.

Surf along east facing shores will be 3 to 5 feet today while south-facing shores can expect surf of 1 to 3 feet.

A series of northwest swells will continue from now through the middle of next week. The current northwest swell will gradually subside below the high surf advisory threshold by late Sunday. A reinforcing northwest swell arriving Monday will likely push surf heights above the advisory threshold again from late Monday through Wednesday.
