Warriors sweep alums

Freshman Joshua Walker had 14 kills as the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team swept its alumni, 30-26, 30-19, 30-28, last night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

A crowd of 745 attended the exhibition.

Steven Grgas added seven kills and two blocks for the Warriors.

Former Warrior Jacob Muise led all players with 15 kills.

James Clar, a junior outside hitter, had five kills in the first game for the Warriors.

In the second game, Walker, an outside hitter, had seven kills to help the Warriors put it away early.

In the third game, the alumni closed to a point of the Warriors after trailing by as many as seven before falling short.

Others playing for the alumni were Shaun Frederick, Kai Kahele, Chris Kosty, Mason Kuo, Malulia La Barre, Sivan Leoni, Kimo Tuyay and Ryan Woodward.

In an earlier all-alumni match, the Green team defeated the White team, 2-1.

The Warriors (3-6, 2-4 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) host UCLA Thursday and Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center. Both matches start at 7 p.m.

The Bruins are 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the MPSF entering a match against Pepperdine tonight.
