2 Leeward Coast beach parks closed for cleanup work

Advertiser Staff

The city temporarily closed two Leeward Coast beach parks Sunday night for major cleanup and renovation work.

While the Nani Kai Beach portion of Ulehawa Beach Park, and the nearby Surfer's Beach area were technically closed, many homeless camp sites remained at the park late last night.

The two beach parks will reopen after 3 p.m. on Friday, the city said.

The temporary closure will allow city park workers to complete extensive maintenance and repairs that include a thorough cleaning of the comfort station and replacement of bathroom fixtures.
