Kona considers what to do with 'old airport' park

Advertiser Staff

A Kona "town meeting" is being called tomorrow to explore the possibilities for Kona's old airport park.

The state has finally transferred the old airport land over to Hawai'i County, and planners are trying to determine what the community would like to see on the property.

The meetings will be at the Makaeo Pavilion at the old Kona airport park at 6 p.m.

Among the organizations represented will be the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, the Kealakehe Neighborhood Watch, the county parks department and various athletic and recreational organizations.
